STAR Mutual Risk Retention Group (RRG) continues to expand access to essential transportation-focused coverages by enabling appointed agents to place Motor Truck Cargo (MTC) through the Reliable Transportation Association (RTA), backed by Lloyd’s London.

This expansion allows STAR Mutual-appointed agents to address a key operational exposure in commercial transportation: a carrier’s responsibility for the cargo it hauls. The Motor Truck Cargo program supports common freight operations while maintaining disciplined underwriting standards and accommodates local, regional, and long-haul routes typical of today’s trucking environment.

Motor Truck Cargo Program: Practical Coverage and Eligible Operations

The program provides cargo protection for standard, non-hazardous freight transported by commercial vehicles such as:

• Dry vans

• Flatbeds

• Non-CDL vehicles (cargo vans, Sprinters)

• Reefers (coming soon)

Certain high-risk or specialized commodities fall outside program guidelines and remain subject to underwriting review.
